I love creating art, whether it’s with my words or photos, but I love even more watching my son create. One of his favorite ways to do this is with chalk outside on our driveway (a huge canvas, if you will). On July 4th afternoon, we plopped ourselves down on the driveway, started creating, and… Read More Driveway Chalk Art Fun with My Son
These beautiful tulips are blooming right outside my front door. During the day they almost glow with their beauty. I got to wondering what they would look like at night with a light directed on them. So, grabbed my handy LED flashlight and my camera and started shooting.
Please enjoy this slideshow from a photo shoot at Farmingville, New York’s Vietnam Memorial site. This beautiful memorial “acknowledges the service and sacrifice of all Vietnam Veterans.” If you’re ever in the area, I recommend a visit. If you would like to see the larger, full-size versions of these images, please let me know.
Combining two of my favorite things to photograph (Nature and reflections), here is a brief Leaf Reflection Study. I took these photos at the edge of my driveway where it meets the street. Every time we have a large rain or snow, a huge puddle forms. These shots show leaves floating in that puddle with… Read More Leaf Reflection Study
As spring starts to settle in here on Long Island, what better time than to look back at my Icicle Study series of photographs from this year. Because of the steady cold temperatures, the icicles were amazing and stayed around for quite a while. Click each image to see a larger version.
One cold, pre-pandemic January day, my photography class made a visit to the on-campus greenhouse for an assignment. Here’s what I discovered. The Stony Brook University Greenhouse has been invaded by creatures from outer space. Here’s the proof: The Vine Visitor from Venus cannot be contained. Here you see it trying to escape from captivity.… Read More Aliens Among Us

But with the COVID-19 virus making my world limited to my house, I’ve had to resort to focusing on my immediate surroundings and on myself (and I hate getting my picture taken)… Read More My Life as a Locked Down, but Not Out, Photographer
One of my favorite parts of being a parent (and one of my favorite things as a child) is going to the playground with my son, Mikey. Hearing his laughter and seeing the smile on his face as he would come down the sliding board or as I pushed him on the swing are a… Read More This Used to Be Their Playground
Here’s one of my favorite assignments (a narrative-storytelling project) from a recent photography class: My son, Mikey, is very creative and loves doing art in many ways. He uses this ability to communicate because he is autistic and has very few words to verbalize his feelings. Making things with Play-Doh is one of his favorite… Read More Rainbow Play-Doh with Mikey O.
Took these photos of the sky a few days ago. It had been a stormy morning, but the clouds were clearing during “rush hour.” What a beautiful display Nature put on for me as I traveled along the highway. It had been a stressful day, but the sky show before me was very calming. Hope… Read More Looking Toward the Sky
